The Government of Pakistan considers hiring of foreign teachers to teach mathematics and other science subjects due to the shortage of the said profession in the country.
According to the report of Zulfiqar Ghuman of DailyTimes Pakistan, the country is eyeing for Bangladesh teachers since the country has made a significant improvement with the quality of education here especially at the basic level.
Education is the primary responsibility of provinces and curriculum is the federal government’s responsibility, the Federal ministry of education was directed by the cabinet to focus on teachers’ training to improve their quality.
The report also says that sources also stated that the recommendation to deal with the shortage of quality teachers by issuing work visas has been forwarded to the federal cabinet.
The cabinet thought that centralized management of school education had failed and there’s a need to set up school management councils in every schools and that all funds must be used through the councils.
The report also stated that, the cabinet members expect that during the time the problem was notice, more funds would not be able to make an impact on school education and directed the ministry to bring reforms keeping in view this perspective, sources added.
The cabinet has suggested that the ministry should review its decisions in introducing composite examination system at secondary and higher secondary levels because there were more advantages in conducting the examinations on non-composite basis.
“The cabinet had expressed concern over disparity of standards of a large number of education boards and suggested that there should be one central board with the existing boards performing as sub-boards,” sources said.
